> King Sunny Adé (born Sunday Adeniyi Adegeye, September 1946, Oshogbo) is a Nigerian bandleader who built [[juju-music]] into an internationally successful genre. His 1982 Island Records signing and album Juju Music brought him global attention, and his 1983 follow-up Synchro System earned Nigeria's first Grammy Award nomination. He remains an active performer and honoured elder of Nigerian music.
